“Following surgery, I had Caring Shepherd provide support for me at home until I was able to look after myself. I was very impressed with the service I received. The caregivers were quietly efficient, helping me with showering and dressing very competently and discretely. They were gentle and supported me as much or as little as I requested. They also kept my home clean and tidy, doing whatever tasks I asked of them including meal preparation. They were reliable and arrived at the time agreed. “My wife has had dementia for the past two years. A year ago she was not able to eat or to walk. As a result I looked at getting her settled into a long-term care facility. After a visit to a well-known care facility I concluded that my preference is to have my wife at home with me for as long as possible. As such, looking at on-line reviews of several home care companies, I decided to focus on Caring Shepherd Home Care Services Inc. I then called the Manager of Operations & Director, Digna Obar for information on her company. She was quick to answer my questions so I asked her to drop my house to determine if she could provide home care for my wife. She said yes and she arrived at my house with a caregiver to evaluate my wife’s condition. The caregiver started work the next day. It’s now being one year since a caregiver comes daily to work with my wife. The results are amazing. My wife can now walk (slowly) talk, eat, play simple games and smile (she’s happy again). "In January 2022, we were in the process of helping a friend, who had suddenly developed serious mobility issues, move from Independent Living into an Assisted Living Facility. Unfortunately before the move could be completed, the facility in which he was living, went into Lock Down due to a Covid outbreak. We called a number of Care Services in Vancouver, as our friend was unable to walk or stand and was alone and without help. All of the Agencies that we contacted were more expensive than was Caring Shepherd and without the quality or flexibility of Service as assessed by our friend and ourselves. Over a period of almost two weeks care providers attended our friend for approximately 12 hours each day. Those from Caring Shepherd, as chosen by Digna, were each exceptional: knowledgeable, intuitive, skilled and self-motivated to complete whatever tasks were necessary to care for and comfort our friend. Digna and her staff worked diligently to secure the help necessary when it was needed, sometimes with little notice. I would have no reservations regarding a recommendation for Caring Shepherd Home Care Services. They are affordable, flexible and very dedicated. When facing the task of seeking care for a loved one, I would most certainly turn to Caring Shepherd above all others."

“I am writing as the Power of Attorney for a dear friend, and the experience she has had with Digna, and her team. My friend moved to a high level assisted living facility in 2018, and as her mobility decreased she required additional assistance and support to remain in the facility. She contracted with Caring Shepherd. Digna and her team stepped up to the plate to provide support in many ways, including outings, banking, grocery shopping and many other supportive things. As my friend’s overall health deteriorated, Digna and her team filled in the gap for as long as possible, until a health crisis occurred. My friend is now in a long term care facility, and this team has provided support as best as possible during this Covid 19 crisis. "Digna came to my attention a couple of years ago when my sister needed help to get the boxes emptied from a move to a senior complex. Over time she became invaluable as a helper who would take my sister for a drive, pick up items at a drugstore, give her companionship and as my sister’s health deteriorated and she ended up in hospital, a care giver from this group became a “touch stone” who aided her in the hospital. Digna herself, helped close out the senior complex items as she packed up and has taken things for my sister to the Care Centre where she is now located. Being 4 provinces away was a huge deterrent for me but Digna has stepped in to be my sister’s shoulder to lean on. Couldn’t have done without all the help she and her organization have given both my sister and I through this Covid 19 time."

“We had hired a previous company to care for my Mom, but due to some inconsistencies, and not quite the care we were expecting, we were looking for an alternate company. My brother came across “Caring Shepherd” in September 2019, and after an impressive discussion with the owner/operator Digna, it was evident they were the company to hire! We had them care for my Mom twice daily, every day. 2 hours in the morning and 1 hour every evening to get Mom up and going for the day, making/helping her with breakfast, dressing, bathing, compression stockings, and ensuring Mom took her medications. Evening visits included leg/foot massage, dressing for bed and helping her into bed. They were always willing to do additional tasks as needed (garbage removal, mail delivery, front desk mail pick up, etc.) ALL of the care providers were very personable, good and actually “visiting” with my Mom, providing EXCELLENT foot/leg massages every evening to help with her peripheral vascular disease – but also actually making Mom “feel good” before going to bed. Caring Shepherd also maintained a communication book daily, so we always knew what went on, and we could also provide communication/requests to the care providers through this communication book. Exceptional idea! Unfortunately Mom’s health declined, so she is now in a total care facility where she needs 24/7 care – but we most certainly would have continued with Caring Shepherd had circumstances allowed us to do so. THANK YOU Digna and ALL your staff for truly caring for your clients. Very much appreciated. ”

Mum was lucky enough to be fully lucid at ninety-four and she looked forward to her care-worker, Liezl’s, visits. These visits gave mum the support she needed to stay in her own home until her final two months. Liezl also accompanied mum on doctor and hospital visits enabling her to retain her independence. You provided wonderful care for a reasonable price on an on-call basis and mum was very grateful.”

“Since the beginning of the year, with regards to my mom and her well-being, my mind has been completely at ease. This is due, 100%, to the care that she receives from the company Caring Shepherd.
